The word Jasper comes from “iaspi” a Greek word that means “spotted stone”. Jasper is an opaque rock of virtually any colour stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments or ash. Patterns arise during the consolidation process forming flow and depositional patterns in the original silica rich sediment or volcanic ash, Hydrothermal action is generally thought to be required in the formation of jasper.
Jasper can be modified by the diffusion of minerals along discontinuities providing the appearance of vegetative growth, i.e., dendritic. The original materials are often fractured and/or distorted, after deposition, into diverse patterns, which are later filled in with other colourful minerals. Weathering, with time, will create intensely coloured superficial rinds.
The classification and naming of jasper varieties presents a challenge. Terms attributed to various well-defined materials includes the geographic locality where it is found, sometimes quite restricted such as "Bruneau" (a canyon) and "Lahontan" (a lake), rivers and even individual mountains; many are fanciful, such as "forest fire" or "rainbow", while others are descriptive, such as "autumn" or "porcelain". A few are designated by the place of origin such as a brown Egyptian or red African.

Mica:-
Mica is a natural stone with a vitreous to pearly lustre, which forms in multiple distinct layers. Mica is actually a broad term that is attributed to more than 34 types of these layers. The most common form of mica is called muscovite, while other varieties include anandite, fuchsite and lepidolite. While mica has been found in various places around the world throughout history, it wasn't until the 19th century the gem was given its name and was mined for export. This stone is often ground up and used as a shimmering powder accent in jewellery and accessories, but mica is also used in makeup foundations, cement filler and an insulator in electrical cables.\n \nMica is known for its properties of protection, energy amplification, and amplifying other crystals.
Mica is an excellent protection mineral, as it is not only insulating, but its reflective surface also deflects negative energy and psychic attack. Because of its non-conductivity, it is also very helpful in creating a shield from electromagnetic radiation, and can be placed on a desk between the user and a computer. The mirror-like quality also facilitates self-reflection and deep inner work. It can help us to recognise when our thoughts or behaviour is being mirrored back to us by others, and also when it is appropriate as a practitioner to mirror back to our clients.
Sheets of mica are surprising flexible, and the mineral teaches us to be more organised and at the same time flexible, especially with issues involving our relationship and interaction with others. Melody suggests that mica can bring clarity in psychic visions, and that it allows us to see and recognise the flaws in humanity (and individuals), and still remain in a state of love, acceptance and compassion with humankind.
Mica helps us focus on what is important, stripping away distractions like layers of an onion until all that is left is what really matters. It helps bring in new psychic abilities in a smooth and controllable fashion. Mica often companions high-energy crystals such as Tourmaline, Aquamarine and Topaz. It acts as a protective interface so one does not become overwhelmed by the sheer energy of the higher vibrational crystals it grows with.
In today’s world we are bombarded with irrelevance on an epic scale, especially through media. Mica helps cut through all that to focus us on what is really important, a stone for the “information” age for sure!
