Amber gold meets deep purple in one of the most visually dramatic mineral combinations the natural world has to offer.

The Specimen
This showpiece weighs 464g and measures an impressive 14cm Γ 6cm Γ 5cm β large enough to command attention on any shelf or display cabinet. It features glassy, translucent, thick tabular crystals of amber-golden Baryte sitting atop a matrix of dark purple botryoidal Fluorite β a combination that is as rare as it is breathtaking. The contrast between the warm gold of the Baryte and the cool, grape-like clusters of purple Fluorite is simply extraordinary.

Origin: The Xiefang Mine, Jiangxi β A World-Class Locality
This specimen comes from the Xiefang Mine, Ruijin County, Ganzhou Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, China β a volcanic-hydrothermal Fluorite deposit running along a remarkable 10km-long vein system. This locality is widely regarded among collectors as having produced some of the finest examples of both Baryte and Fluorite specimens in the world, and is considered the premier location for this particular Baryte-on-Fluorite combination.
The geological conditions at Xiefang β where hydrothermal fluids rich in barium and calcium fluoride moved through volcanic rock fractures β created the perfect environment for both minerals to grow in close association, producing the dramatic layered formations seen in this piece.

The Minerals
π‘ Baryte (Barite) β Barium Sulphate
Baryte (BaSOβ) is a barium sulphate mineral named from the Greek barys, meaning "heavy" β a fitting name, as it is notably dense for a non-metallic mineral. It forms in a wide variety of colours, but the thick tabular amber-golden crystals from Xiefang are among the most prized by collectors. Baryte is found in hydrothermal veins, sedimentary rocks, and as a gangue mineral in ore deposits. Industrially it is one of the most important minerals in the world, used extensively in oil and gas drilling as a weighting agent.
In crystal healing, Baryte is associated with inner vision, dream recall, and spiritual connection. It is said to encourage independence, motivation, and the pursuit of one's true purpose, while also supporting deep meditative states.
π£ Fluorite β Calcium Fluoride
Fluorite (CaFβ) is one of the most beloved minerals in any collection β celebrated for its extraordinary range of colours, glassy lustre, and perfect octahedral cleavage. The deep purple botryoidal (grape-like, rounded) formations in this specimen are particularly striking. Fluorite is the mineral that gave its name to the phenomenon of fluorescence β and true to form, this specimen fluoresces under both longwave and shortwave ultraviolet light, adding a spectacular hidden dimension to an already stunning piece.
Metaphysically, Fluorite is known as the "Genius Stone" β a powerful mental clarity crystal that organises and processes information, enhances focus, and dissolves mental fog. Purple Fluorite in particular is associated with the Third Eye Chakra, deepening intuition and spiritual awareness.

The UV Experience
Under ultraviolet light, the Fluorite in this specimen comes alive β fluorescing under both longwave (365nm) and shortwave UV. If you own a UV torch, this piece will reward you with a completely different visual experience after dark. It's one of those specimens that genuinely has two personalities: stunning in natural light, and otherworldly under UV.
Why This Piece Belongs in Your Collection
