Some pieces stop you in your tracks. This is one of them.
I'm thrilled to share one of the most impressive specimens in my collection — a 1.198kg XL Malachite Polished Specimen sourced from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, widely regarded as producing the finest Malachite in the world. Measuring 12.5cm x 7.5cm x 6.5cm, this is a true cabinet piece that commands attention from every angle.

What Makes This Piece Special
What I love most about this specimen is its versatility as a display piece — it's self-standing on two sides, so you can choose the angle that best showcases its features. Both faces display numerous stunning eyes — those mesmerising concentric rings that form when Malachite grows in botryoidal clusters and is then cut and polished to reveal the internal banding. No two eyes are alike, and this piece has them in abundance.

About Malachite
Malachite is a green secondary copper mineral with a rich and fascinating history. Its name is thought to derive from the Greek word malakee (mallow leaves) in reference to its vivid green colour, or from malakos, meaning soft. It was first described in antiquity by Pliny the Elder in 79 CE.
Malachite has been prized by civilisations for thousands of years — ancient Egyptians mined it between the Suez and Sinai as early as 4000 BC, using it for jewellery, ornaments, and even powdered as eye shadow. Russian czars famously used it for ornamental panelling in their castles, and intricate inlay work.

Malachite's Meaning & Properties
Malachite is known as the Stone of Transformation — it's said to help reveal and heal emotional pain, bringing awareness to patterns and situations that no longer serve you. It's a stone of growth, change, and personal evolution.
Some of its key associations include:
- Transformation & growth — supporting positive change and personal development
- Protection — absorbing negative energies and electromagnetic pollution; traditionally kept near microwaves and televisions
- Emotional healing — drawing out impurities and stimulating the life force
- Clarity & insight — helping you identify what needs to change and guiding you through it
- Joy — often called the essence of joy, with its vibrant, life-affirming green
It's associated with the heart chakra, and its deep, rich green connects it strongly to nature, growth, and renewal.

Caring for Your Malachite
Malachite is a relatively soft stone (3.5–4 on the Mohs scale) and requires a little care:
- Clean gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth — avoid water immersion and harsh chemicals
- Keep away from acids, including vinegar and citrus
- Store separately from harder stones to avoid scratching
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight which can fade the colour over time
- Cleanse energetically with moonlight, sound, or on a selenite plate — avoid salt water
