This particular Calcite is known as “Amber Calcite” or “Golden Brown Calcite” is from an unspecified location in Guizhou Province, China. This material has a very pleasantly toned Dogtooth or Scalenohedral Calcite growing from a white Calcite Base.

During exposure to UV light this material displays a pale yellow colour, but interestingly it also displays Fluorescence for 2 or 3 seconds after UV light exposure.\nIn fluorescence, the emission of light occurs immediately when the material is exposed to external radiation (e.g., ultraviolet light). Once the external light source is removed, the fluorescence stops almost instantly. The excited electrons return to their ground state quickly, and the light emission ceases.
