This polished slab weighs 882g and measures 15cm x 15cm x 2cm.

This particular Beryl material that includes Smokey Quartz and dark green Biotite Mica was sourced from the Upper Gascoyne Shire, Western Australia, Australia. The exact location of this find is uncertain but somewhere between two Beryl mines in the area.

Kempton Brothers Beryl Mine - located 6.7 km south of Pyramid Hill on Yinnietharra Station, Western Australia. The pegmatite containing the Beryl intrudes a quartzite belonging to the lower Proterozoic Wyloogroup. The other mine is known as the Williamson’s Beryl Mine and the pegmatite forms a conspicous conical hill on the west bank of the Thirty One River, west of the Morrissey Hill, Nardoo and Cairns mining centres. Reportedly the Lake Moore pegmatite is probably the same deposit. This area was made world famous for Brown and Black Dravite specimens of exceptional size and formations.

Pure Beryl is colourless and known as Goshenite. However, a wide range of impurities cause the diverse amount of colours and many varieties including several important gemstone varieties. The green variety, is known as Emerald, light green material is known as green Beryl, or Heliodor if it has a yellow colour. Aquamarine is the greenish blue variety and Morganite is the pinkish form of Beryl. Red Beryl, known as Bixbite is extremely rare and the only known location to this date is the Wah Wah Mountains of Utah.
