This piece weighs 76g and measures 5.5cm x 5cm x 4cm.

These extremely unusual specimens of white hexagonal columnar Calcite with black scalenohedron colour zoning are from Yongchun Co., Quanzhou prefecture, Fujian, China. It is a two generation growth Calcite where the inner black scalenohedron formed first, then the white hexagonal Calcite covered the black crystal. These Calcite crystals display a bright pink-orange fluorescence under longwave UV lighting 365 nm. \n\nThis new species was first discovered in Nov 2017, and this crystal habit of Calcite is unique to China. The locals called it "Panda Calcite" as it resembles the colours eyes of Panda eyes and it is still very uncommon.
