This stunning sphere is expertly crafted from Phlogopite, which is a rare member of the Mica Group of minerals and is not well known even by mineral collectors. The chemical formula of Phlogopite is KMg3AlSi3O10(OH, F)2 (Potassium Magnesium Aluminum Silicate Hydroxide Fluoride). It has been mined however for its heat and electrical insulating properties which are considered superior to other Micas. This material is also referred to as Golden Mica.
