This interesting specimen of Libethenite on Turquoise is from the Green Parrot Mine, Northern Territory, Australia. This specimen was collected in the 1990’s and weighs 36g and measures 6cm x 3cm x 2.5cm.
The Green Parrot Mine is one of the historic, foundational core deposits within the broader Jervois Copper Project area. Located roughly 15 kilometres north of the Plenty Highway, it is technically classified as an abandoned open-cut and underground mine that is now being revitalised.
Because the deposits were mined spasmodically starting in the 1930s, the shallow, surface-level workings opened up the highly weathered, oxidized "supergene" zones of the earth. Because mining stopped before large-scale open pits could destroy the upper layers, the site became famous among mineral collectors for perfectly preserved secondary minerals
Libethinite:-
Libethinite is a rare Copper Phosphate Hydroxide mineral found in the oxidised zone of Copper ore deposits. It forms striking, dark green orthorhombic crystals and was discovered in 1823 in Ľubietová, Slovakia and is named after the German name of that locality (Libethen). The phosphate is often derived from the weathering of apatite and other rock-forming phosphates such as monazite and xenotime.
Libethinite has been called “a stone of progress,” as it stimulates dynamic change and action furthering one’s life pursuits. Libethenite fosters independence from self-imposed limitations and the ability to live a life free from the expectations of others. Libethenite enhances perception, clarity of circumstances, and creates focus of plans and situations. Libethenite facilitates freedom of speech and right action. Libethenite helps one to limit speaking with little thought and increases clarity and the sense of inner knowingness.
Libethenite reduces the tendency to procrastinate and encourages quick action. It is said that Libethenite may enhance one’s status in the worldly environment and the ability to attain resources. Libethenite may help one to stay on the right course of action as one releases old patterns and supports new beneficial behaviours. Libethenite assists one in overcoming fear and anxiety about death and the unknown. The vibrational energy of Libethenite helps one realise that death is an ending but may also be considered as a beginning.
Turquoise:-
Turquoise is a copper aluminum mineral that occurs as a secondary mineral resulting from the weathering and oxidation of copper deposits. Its name came from French “Pierre turquoise” meaning “Turkish stone” due to Turkey trading vast amounts of Turquoise because of its position between Europe and Asia.
Turquoise is one of, if not the longest used stone in all of human history. Beads have been found in Iran dating back to around 5000 B.C., and the Egyptians were mining Turquoise around 3200 B.C. About 1000 years ago.
Native Americans began to find out about Turquoise and used it for jewellery, weapons, and amulets. They believed Turquoise would open their mind up to the infinite possibilities the universe has to offer. The stone has been commonly found in Native American burial sites on both continental Americas.
On a metaphysical level, Turquoise is believed to aid in truth-seeking, communication, and manifestation of expansion. It assists people in voicing their opinion and communicating better with people around them. Anyone who is shy and has social anxiety should always carry a piece when they are faced with uncomfortable situations. Also, people involved in public speaking should wear a piece to reduce the overall stress and anxiety of the situation. Turquoise activates the throat chakra making it easier to voice deep thoughts and opinions you might not normally voice outside your head.
Turquoise is also a stone of wholeness. It's an emotional balancer and brings peace and serenity to users in times of need. Turquoise heals the emotional body(especially when depleted), will aid in relieving everyday stress weighing down on us all, as well as expanding awareness of your true self. Anyone looking for higher knowledge and wisdom should work with a piece of Turquoise, as it will rapidly benefit you on your spiritual journey.
