Madan ore field is situated in the southwest part of the Central Rhodope Dome, Smoylan Province, Bulgaria and contains 39 Lead/Zinc deposits that have been or currently are being mined. Known since ancient times, exploited in the Middle Ages and extensively mined during the last 50 years, producing over 95 Mt ores (∼2.5 Mt Pb, ∼2 Mt Zn; 2.54% Pb, 2.10% Zn) in more than 40 underground mines. The larger deposits are related to six fault zones with lengths up to 15 km and more. The main minerals of all deposits are Quartz, Galena and Sphalerite, with additional Johannsonite becoming important in the peripheral parts of the replacement orebodies. In decreasing order of abundance, additional materials found are Pyrite, Chalcopyrite, Calcite, Rhodochrosite, Dolomite and Rhodenite.
Galena:-
Galena was named by Pliny the Elder in 77-79 from the Greek word “galene” which means lead ore. It has been mined for its lead and silver content since 3000 BC.
Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulphide minerals. It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system often showing octahedral forms. It is often associated with the minerals sphalerite, calcite and fluorite. Galena is the main ore of lead, used since ancient times. Because of its somewhat low melting point it was easy to liberate by smelting. It typically forms in low-temperature sedimentary deposits.
In some deposits the galena contains about 1–2% silver, a byproduct that far outweighs the main lead ore in revenue. In these deposits significant amounts of silver occur as included silver self-identifying mineral phases or as limited silver in solid solution within the galena structure.
One of the oldest reported uses of galena was in the eye cosmetic kohl. In Ancient Egypt, this was applied around the eyes to reduce the glare of the desert sun and to repel flies, which were a potential source of disease. Galena is also the primary ore of lead, and is often mined for its silver content, such as at the Galena Mine in northern Idaho.
Galena is a stone of harmony and self transformation and is effective when embarking on a personal spiritual journey. Galena is a powerful grounding stone. Its energy lends the courage to face and embrace the deepest and most feared regions of ones own soul. Galena can lend a sense of strength, courage and the ability to face difficult tasks.
Galena may assist you in reclaiming your power and encourages tolerance, peace and the healing of spirit. Galena brings healing, calmness, efficiency, receptivity, communication and insight. Galena has been traditionally used as an aid for shamanic journeys and in magical practises as a stone of protection and power. It allows one to maintain connection with the Divine, even while in the darkest places. Galenas energy helps to counter radiation, electromagnetic pollution and other forms of environmental energy. It is an excellent stone to use when spending long hours on the computer. Galena grounds and centres our energies and allows the pathway between the physical and etheric bodies to align. It is a stone of harmony, stimulating interaction on all levels and assists us in the decrease of self-limiting ideas.
Clear Quartz:-
Clear Quartz, pure silicon dioxide, is also called Rock Crystal or Ice Crystal, from the Greek word “krystallos”, meaning “ice”, because crystal was believed to be water frozen so hard it could never thaw. For all its variety, when most people speak of “crystals”, they are usually referring to Rock Crystal (Clear Quartz), the six-sided prisms of pure light and energy known as the Perfect Jewel. In its sparkling light is contained the entire colour spectrum.
Resonating at the level of an individual’s needs, Clear Quartz also amplifies whatever energy or intent is programmed into it, and continues to broadcast that energy throughout the world and into the etheric realms. This may accelerate the fulfilment of one’s prayers, intensify healing or spiritual growth, or simply allow the crystal to hold a pattern of energy long enough and strongly enough for the manifestation of a goal to occur.
Clear Quartz encourages clarity of thought and purpose to one’s heart and mind. It works on all levels of the energetic and physical bodies and resonates with all chakras. Clear Quartz will amplify any energy with which it moves into resonance, including other stones, constantly broadcasting that energy into the Earths electromagnetic field. This makes Clear Quartz an excellent stone to use for healing, manifestation or prayer work. Clear Quartz helps to establish a strong, clear connection to higher guidance.
Clear Quartz has been used as a healing tool since the Ancient times. In Shamanic practises Clear Quartz is referred to as the “light-stone”, an instrument of clairvoyance. Clear Quartz was traditionally used by Australian Aborigines and the Prairie Indians of North America as a talisman for visionary work. The Navajo believed it to be Clear Quartz that first caused the Sun to cast its light upon the world. The six sided hexagonal shape of Quartz crystal points allow them to hold a programme or intention, to magnify that energy and radiate it out into the surrounding area.
Clear Quartz is excellent for amplifying the energies of other stones or to enhance groups of stones, and is ideal for gridding. It is the perfect base material for wands, staffs, templates, etc., and clear crystal spheres have long been used for crystal gazing. Because Clear Quartz has the prismatic ability to vibrate its energy at all of the colour frequencies, it not only harmonises all of the chakras, but can teach us how to vibrate our seven chakra centres simultaneously while maintaining perfect alignment with the light.
