These awesome specimens contain combinations of Sphalerite Crystals, (Orange), Garnet Crystals, (Red), Quartz and Galena on a Sphalerite/Quartz matrix from the Shuikoushan Mine, Shuikoushan ore field, Hunan, China. This is one of the largest Pb-Zn-Au polymetallic magmatic hydrothermal system in South China (~240km2).The Shuikoushan ore field mainly consists of Kangjiawan middle to low temperature hydrothermal Pb-Zn-Au deposit, Yagongtang skarn Fe-Cu-Pb-Zn deposit, Laoyachao middle to low temperature hydrothermal Pb-Zn-Au deposit and Longwangshan weathering Au deposit.

This ore field is located in Changning County, within the city of Hengyang, in Hunan Province, China. This is in the Southern part of Central China close to other famous locations, namely the Shangbao Mine and the Yaogangxian Mine.

Most people are familiar with the term Sphalerite and it is most commonly available in Spheres, Freeforms or a matrix that usually contains Fluorite or many other minerals. Generally it will be a Druzy covering on, or throughout a Quartz Matrix. Sphalerite Crystals, however, are often mistaken for Orange Garnets as they look, very similar.

The exact location of the specimens is one of the key factors in determining whether you are looking at a Sphalerite Crystal or a Garnet Crystal.

Galena:-

Galena was named by Pliny the Elder in 77-79 from the Greek word “galene” which means lead ore. It has been mined for its lead and silver content since 3000 BC.

Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulphide minerals. It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system often showing octahedral forms. It is often associated with the minerals sphalerite, calcite and fluorite. Galena is the main ore of lead, used since ancient times. Because of its somewhat low melting point it was easy to liberate by smelting. It typically forms in low-temperature sedimentary deposits.

In some deposits the galena contains about 1–2% silver, a byproduct that far outweighs the main lead ore in revenue. In these deposits significant amounts of silver occur as included silver self-identifying mineral phases or as limited silver in solid solution within the galena structure.

One of the oldest uses of galena was in the eye cosmetic kohl. In Ancient Egypt, this was applied around the eyes to reduce the glare of the desert sun and to repel flies, which were a potential source of disease. Galena is also the primary ore of lead, and is often mined for its silver content, such as at the Galena Mine in northern Idaho.

Galena is a stone of harmony and self transformation and is effective when embarking on a personal spiritual journey.  Galena is a powerful grounding stone. Its energy lends the courage to face and embrace the deepest and most feared regions of ones own soul. Galena can lend a sense of strength, courage and the ability to face difficult tasks.

Galena assists you in reclaiming your power and encourages tolerance, peace and the healing of spirit. Galena brings healing, calmness, efficiency, receptivity, communication and insight. Galena has been traditionally used as an aid for shamanic journeys and in magical practises as a stone of protection and power. It allows one to maintain connection with the Divine, even while in the darkest places. Galenas energy helps to counter radiation, electromagnetic pollution and other forms of environmental energy. It is an excellent stone to use when spending long hours on the computer. Galena grounds and centres our energies and allows the pathway between the physical and etheric bodies to align. It is a stone of harmony, stimulating interaction on all levels and assists us in the decrease of self-limiting ideas. It has been known to decrease inflammations and skin eruptions, and help with circulation problems and hair growth. It is an excellent stone for countering infections. It can help one against the adverse effects of certain types of radiation. It can help with detoxing for those recovering from an addiction.

Sphalerite:-

Sphalerite is a Sulphide mineral with the formula ((which Zn, Fe)S).It is the principal ore of zinc. Pure sphalerite is colorless and rare. Normally, iron is present, causing the colour to vary from pale greenish yellow to brown and black with increasing iron content. When iron content is high it is an opaque black variety, Marmatite.

It is usually found in association with Galena, Pyrite, and other sulphides along with Calcite, Dolomite and Fluorite. Miners have also been known to refer to sphalerite as Zinc blende, black-jack and Ruby jack. Its complex crystals combine tetrahedral or dodecahedral forms with other faces.

Sphalerite gets its name from the Greek sphaleros, meaning “deceitful,” because its lustrous dark crystals can be mistaken for other minerals. It is often coarsely crystalline or massive, or forms banded, botryoidal, or stalactitic aggregates. It occurs in hydrothermal vein deposits contact metamorphic zones, and replacement deposits formed at high temperature (1,065°F/575°C or above). It is also found in meteorites and lunar rocks.

Sphalerite is here to help ground your energies and activate your lower 3 chakras. It raises one's courage, drive, and focus levels to heights they never knew they had within. This mineral helps one truly believe in themselves, and their ability to unlock their full potential in this life. It increases stamina, passion, and overall energy.

Garnet:-

Garnet is a powerful energizing and regenerative stone. It balances, strengthens and protects. While it is one of the most plentiful stones, it has several forms according to its mineral base.

Garnet is also known for its utilisation of creative energy. It grounds spirit forces within the body and helps in the ability to work lovingly on the physical plane. Yet Garnet is a sensual stone. It represents primordial fire, the creation of the world out of chaos, purification and love. It is a stone of strong, intense feelings.

The distinctive title Garnet is derived from the Latin name Granatum, a pomegranate, because of the resemblance the granular varieties of Garnet bears to the seeds of that fruit. Garnets vary in size from a grain of sand to the size of an apple. According to the Roman historian Pliny, the large dull-coloured "Carbunculus of India" (a variety of Garnet) used to be hollowed out into vessels which would hold as much as a pint.

Garnets were used in the former Czechoslovakia as far back as the Bronze Age, and in Egypt more than five thousand years ago. They were used in Sumeria around 2100 B.C. and in Sweden between 1000 and 2000 B.C. They were also popular in ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. According to the Talmud, the only light on Noah's ark was provided by a large Garnet. In Europe during the Middle Ages, Garnet was used to enhance truth, faith and constancy, and to dispel melancholy. As a Warrior's Stone, Garnet served as a talisman in the Crusades for both the Christians and their Muslim enemies.

Emotionally it provides a protective and calming influence during use and is thought to heal melancholy and depression, strengthening the survival instinct, and bringing courage and hope into critical situations.

Garnet balances energy, bringing serenity or passion as appropriate, and can inspire love and balance the sex drive. Garnet is considered a lucky stone, for love, success, and for business relationships. It helps you let go of old behaviour patterns and boosts self-confidence.

Garnets honour Sekhmet, the Egyptian Goddess of War, and is the traditional birthstone of those born in January. It is the stone of those born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius, and as an Enhancer Strengthener crystal, it has been worn for centuries as a protective and powerful talisman.

Quartz:-

Composed of silicon and oxygen (silicon dioxide), Quartz, from the European "quarz", is a key component in a wide array of minerals designated as "silicates." It occurs as prismatic hexagonal crystals in compact masses and druses, as well as in dense fibrous or grainy formations without visible crystals. It is also an important mineral element in common rock such as granite, quartzite and gneiss, and in sedimentary conglomerates like sandstone.

Ordinary, yet extraordinary, colourful and clear, Quartz crystals are the most common and abundant in the world, comprising the largest and most diverse family in the mineral kingdom. "From ancient times to the present day, quartz crystals have been a source of Light to mankind. Highly valued by spiritual leaders and healers as well as scientists, the unique attributes of quartz have played a key role in mankind' evolutionary development."

For all its variety, when most people speak of "crystals", they are usually referring to Rock Crystal (Clear Quartz), the six-sided prisms of pure light and energy known as the Perfect Jewel. In its sparkling light is contained the entire colour spectrum.

In the metaphysical world, Clear Quartz crystals are the supreme gift of Mother Earth. Even the smallest is imbued with the properties of a master healer teacher. Ancients believed these stones to be alive, taking a breath once every hundred years or so, and many cultures thought them to be incarnations of the Divine.

Today’s healers agree, believing crystals are living beings, incredibly old and wise, and willing to communicate when an individual is open and ready to receive. Wearing, carrying or meditating with a Clear Quartz crystal opens the mind and heart to higher guidance, allowing the realm of Spirit to be transmitted and translated into the world of physical form.

Resonating at the level of an individual's needs, Clear Quartz also amplifies whatever energy or intent is programmed into it, and continues to broadcast that energy throughout the world and into the etheric realms. This may accelerate the fulfilment of one's prayers, intensify healing or spiritual growth, or simply allow the crystal to hold a pattern of energy long enough and strongly enough for the manifestation of a goal to occur.

Quartz crystals are the manifestation of the Creator's finest hour of expression. The are windows of light with many facets which show the myriad dimensions of life created from cosmic dust in an ever expanding universe. Divine plan as foreordained that all expanding life revolve around one common denominator, quartz crystal. Through frozen solidified light all creation could be monitored and assisted through the evolutionary process."Beverly Criswell "Quartz Crystals: A Celestial Point of View" ( quoted in "Windows of Light", by Vicki and Randall Baer).
