Calcite:-
While its name comes from the German word calcit (meaning limestone) and only came into use relatively recently, in the ancient world, calcite was grouped together with gypsum and called “alabaster” for its fair, milky colour. During the Second World War, it was used for gun sights, due to its ready availability.
Calcite is clear, whitish, or pale grey, but can take on different shades of grey, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, or even black. This is due to microscopic quantities of other minerals or metals contained within the crystal matrix which makes the energy shift and it takes on unique characteristics.
Calcite is a family of calcium carbonates that occurs in a wide range of colours and formations. Most commonly it occurs in opaque masses but it can occur in a wide array of crystalline habits. Calcite is a soft mineral, with a Mohs hardness of 3. Because of its relative softness it is often carved or polished. Rough pieces are usually given an acid bath which softens the rough edges and give the stones a silky sheen.
Calcite has an amazing energy that refreshes and revitalizes, yet is still gentle. They help to remove blockages and break up old patterns. The wide range of colours ensures there is a calcite for every chakra. These strong yet gentle healers are easy to work with no matter your age, and even vibrate well with our feathered and furry friends. Calcite is a great all round healer and can be found in a wide array of colours. Energize your body’s natural electrical system using this crystal in your hands, at your feet or chakra point. You may use spheres, eggs and wands for massage. Placing your feet on a large piece will energize the whole body out of sight. Calcite comes in many colours, forms and locations. It is a crystal of fantastic variety and each one has its own benefits. Due to its electrical nature, Calcite makes for a potent elixir. Calcite is a crystal to help one get out of ruts, or break through blockages on just about any level. It is also a crystal for ascension.
Calcite is a stone of promise. It works hard to help and support its keeper in many ways. A stone that is often grounding, comforting and settling, resonating often with its keeper on an earthly level, Calcite makes a wonderful support towards moving through daily life. It is a stone that can settle with many beings contently, especially as it tends to work in the here and now, while keeping they're feet on the ground at all times. Calcite is very stable and universal in its energy, and although it does differ in its forms, the undertones remain the same.
Chalcopyrite:-
Chalcopyrite was the mineral upon which Bronze Age civilizations were built. Within the last century, it also became the mineral foundation for our modern electrical age. Our primary source of copper, chalcopyrite’s name comes from the Greek words ‘chalkos’ and ‘pyrites’, which respectively mean ‘copper’ and ‘striking fire’. With its metallic lustre and bright golden colour, chalcopyrite can fool people into thinking it is gold. It is one of two minerals, the other being pyrite, that are commonly known as ‘fool’s gold’.
Chalcopyrite is a striking, bright yellow, metallic mineral that occurs in nearly all sulphide deposits. Initially, it may be easy to confuse chalcopyrite with pyrite, but the two can be distinguished by their relative hardness and chalcopyrite’s iridescent tarnish. Pyrite is the harder of the two and cannot be easily scratched by a nail, unlike chalcopyrite. In its massive variety, chalcopyrite is one of the minerals most often mistaken for gold. While gold is ductile and malleable, chalcopyrite is brittle and will shatter if struck.
When Chalcopyrite is exposed to acid, its colour palette changes to deep purple, blues, violets, and yellows. This treated Chalcopyrite is what you will find at most shows and crystal shops, and is commonly referred to as “Peacock Ore”. Technically “ Peacock Ore” is another mineral called Bornite, which naturally tarnishes to these colours, but it quite rare.
Chalcopyrite is one of the strongest healing stones in the mineral kingdom and is known as the chakra stone. As the chakra stone, it will cleanse, balance and align all your chakra energy centres individually. Once all are aligned, cleansed and balanced individually, this incredible multicolored stone will simultaneously align your entire physical body with that of your Spiritual and Ethereal energy bodies.
As you work with Chalcopyrite it will assist you in shifting your inner Self, aligning your thoughts and emotions in a very soothing, calming way. In addition, Peacock Ore resonates more finely with the Third Eye, allowing the user to re-discover long forgotten knowledge. It is the key to reconnecting yourself with ancient esoteric knowledge. Hold it above or in front of your Third Eye during meditation. It will in time, depending on how open you are, assist you in awakening your inner sight.
Among the many benefits of Chalcopyrite is the grounding of excess nervous energy, allowing the body and mind to release stress related emotions which in turn cause an imbalance throughout the body. It can cause a transformation that removes negative energy and replaces it with a strong, beneficial, positive energy. It possesses the unique property of energizing not only the area on which it is placed, but all affects all of the surrounding area as well.
Chalcopyrite is a Enhancer Mirror Crystal. Enhancers are minerals and crystals with internal crystal lattices of perfect cubic symmetry and internal harmony. They can focus and enhance our energy on the feelings of improvements we desire and help turn them to the thoughts that will produce the actions we need to improve. These are the “building block” crystals. Their internal structure of blocks builds up perfect crystal lattices that can help us focus our efforts to build on our successes, achievements and enhance our lives.
Pyrite:-
The name pyrite originated with the Greek word pyr or pyros which means fire. It was named that because it gives off sparks when hit against any hard surface
Early use of pyrite dates back to ancient Mesoamerica when the Mayans polished slabs of the mineral rock and used them as mirrors. It was also carved into masks and figurines by the Ancient Mayans and Aztecs. The Mayans traded pyrite mirrors with the Anasazi, possibly as far back as 600 A.D.\nNorth American Indians revered pyrite crystals for their incredible powers. They used pyrite medicinally, for divination and to impart magical power while reciting incantations. The pyrite crystals were often carved into amulets and worn as jewellery.\nDuring the 1500's and 1600's, pyrite was used in firearms to create a spark when the weapon was fired. People developed an appreciation for pyrite in jewellery in the 1800's. Pyrite crystals were most often faceted, put in silver settings and called marcasite. Pyrite was used in lithium batteries and radio receivers during the 20th century.
Pyrite is an enhancer crystal which means it helps enhance our focus in all aspects of life. Pyrite is also a mirror crystal. It reflects truth and reality that is often hidden from us. We often perceive people and situations inaccurately because of our own experiences or preconceived notions. This applies to our perceptions of ourselves, the way we see others and how we perceive a situation or relationship. Two often-used phrases that are highly applicable to pyrite meaning are: "Looks can be deceiving" and "Don't judge a book by its cover." Pyrite looks like something it isn't and helps us see things more clearly.\nPyrite is a very strong, masculine crystal that contains both Earth and Fire elements. It imparts masculinity, strength, sharp focus, virility and a desire for action. Pyrite is a stone of determination and persistence. It is also a very protective crystal that naturally pulls energy from the earth to strengthen one's aura against negative energies. When worn by women, it fortifies confidence and raises self-esteem.\nThis protective mineral stone helps one see what needs to be done and imparts the strength and confidence to complete a task. It is a wonderful workplace crystal. It will alleviate fatigue, enhance clarity and give workers a determined focus.
The spiritual healing powers of pyrite are wonderful for improving spiritual focus and clarity of perceptions. It pulls high-frequency energy into the body which stimulates a desire for action, enhances creativity and helps one recognise their own potential.
Pyrite crystals impart Earth and Fire energies in Feng Shui. Place a pyrite mirror, figurine or bowl of tumble stones in the northeast and southwest areas of your home for Earth energy. This type of energy is connected with areas of love, relationships, knowledge and skills. When placed in areas used for resting, it will provide a sense of protection and safety. Putting pyrite in the south area of a home will provide Fire energy. It will bring Yang energy, warmth, enthusiasm and a sense of action. Pyrite used for Fire energy also improves ones standing and reputation within the family and the community.
Pyrite is a protective, shielding stone and is excellent to wear or carry as an amulet to deflect harm and danger. It is especially helpful when one is away from home or performing hazardous work. \nPyrite guards against ongoing control, criticism and manipulation by a partner, parent or employer, lending the power to resist without becoming angry or upset, changing the balance of power. \nA piece of Pyrite in the home or workplace energizes the area around it and imparts an immediate increase in vitality. It overcomes intellectual fatigue due to overwork and tiredness of the nervous system by stimulating blood flow to the brain, increasing mental clarity, focus and recall.
Pyrite enhances the protective and assertive male energies in both men and women.
