This piece weighs 16g and measures 4cm x 2cm x 1.5cm.

This Stibiconite partial Pseudomorph from Stibnite has a secondary growth of druzy Quartz that is heavily Iron stained. This material is also from the largest Antimony deposit in the world - Xikuangshan Sb deposit, Lengshuijiang Co., Loudi, Hunan, China.

Stibiconite, also known as Stiblite or Altimony Ocre was first described in 1862 for an occurrence in the Brandholz – Goldkronach District, Fichtel Mountains, Bavaria, Germany. Stibiconite occurs as a secondary alteration product of other hydrothermal antimony minerals mainly Stibnite. It occurs in association with Cervantite, (which is visually quite similar, Valentinite, Native Antimony and Kermesite.

Stibiconite was for a long time an acknowledged species, but is now questionable - a brief technical explanation follows.

Stibiconite is not, as yet, a discredited mineral and is classified as 'Grandfathered' by the IMA. Full characterisation of 'stibiconite' specimens is difficult, requiring full quantification of the oxidation states of Sb for complete characterisation to determine whether it is a Sb3+ dominant romeite species or a new phase related to known synthetic phases Sb2O5 · 1-3H2O which have been reported to have a pyrochlore structure and contain no Sb3+ (Christy & Atencio, 2013).

The process of morphing from Stibnite into Stibiconite is not complete on all of these specimens. Some pieces clearly show a break revealing some unaltered Stibnite inside. This is especially evident in the first group, which also don’t contain the Calcite crystal overgrowth, where the alteration process is relatively young. Subsequent groups show wonderfully gold coloured druzy Calcite growths.

Stibnite:-

Stibnite is a sulphide mineral and is the principal ore of Antimony. From the Greek, stimmi or stibi, "antimony," thence to the Latin, stibium. Also from the Greek anthemon, "flower" in allusion to the form of crystal druses. Lead-grey to silvery grey in colour, it often develops a black, iridescent tarnish on exposure to light. It normally occurs as elongated, prismatic crystals that may be bent or twisted. These crystals are often marked by striations parallel to the prism faces. Stibnite typically forms coarse, irregular masses or radiating sprays of needlelike crystals, but it can also be granular or massive.

A widespread mineral, in a large range of quality, Stibnite occurs in hydrothermal veins, hot-spring deposits and replacement deposits that form at low temperatures (up to 400°F/200°C). It is often associated with Galena Cinnabar, Realgar, Orpiment, Pyrite and Quartz. It is found in massive aggregates in Granite and Gneiss rocks.

Stibnite is used to manufacture matches, fireworks, and percussion caps for firearms. Other uses were in the pyrotechnic industries, namely in the glitter & fountain mixtures. The Needle-like crystals or "Chinese Needle", are used in glitter compositions & white pyrotechnic stars. The "Dark Pyro" version is used in flash powders to increase their sharpness & sensitivity. It is also a component of modern day safety matches.

A paste of Stibnite powder in fat & other materials, was used as far back as 3100 BC since protodynastic ancient Egypt as a medication & a cosmetic. This paste was known as Kohl & has been used my many cultures predominantly as eye makeup.

A crystal of change, growth, attraction & transformation. The most important lesson Stibnite imparts is how to conquer fear. Stibnite can effect profound change on all levels. This energy is grounding, expansive & cleansing. Stibnite provides excellent protection with stability & helps one to blend or be the chameleon in all worlds.

An excellent anchor for grounding high vibrational energies into the physical plane & affecting positive change with these energies. A powerful healer which shields one from energetic attachment & acts as an energy generator. Stibnite is a great ally when manifesting abundance & prosperity as it gives great strength to push through barriers, releasing blockages.

Stibnite fortifies the auric field providing both energetic & emotional protection. It opens & maintains connection with spirit which increases intuitive abilities. Helps to create & maintain personal boundaries, instilling great self-respect.

Calcite:-

Calcite is clear, whitish, or pale grey, but can take on different shades of grey, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, or even black. This is due to microscopic quantities of other minerals or metals contained within the crystal matrix which makes the energy shift and it takes on unique characteristics.

Calcite is a family of calcium carbonates that occurs in a wide range of colours and formations. Most commonly it occurs in opaque masses but it can occur in a wide array of crystalline habits. Calcite is a soft mineral, with a Mohs hardness of 3. Because of its relative softness it is often carved or polished. Rough pieces are usually given an acid bath which softens the rough edges and give the stones a silky sheen.

Calcite has an amazing energy that refreshes and revitalizes, yet is still gentle. They help to remove blockages and break up old patterns. The wide range of colours ensures there is a calcite for every chakra. These strong yet gentle healers are easy to work with no matter your age, and even vibrate well with our feathered and furry friends. Calcite is a great all round healer and can be found in a wide array of colours. Energize your body’s natural electrical system using this crystal in your hands, at your feet or chakra point. You may use spheres, eggs and wands for massage. Placing your feet on a large piece will energize the whole body out of sight. Calcite comes in many colours, forms and locations. It is a crystal of fantastic variety and each one has its own benefits. Due to its electrical nature, Calcite makes for a potent elixir. Calcite is a crystal to help one get out of ruts, or break through blockages on just about any level. It is also a crystal for ascension.

Calcite is a stone of promise. It works hard to help and support its keeper in many ways. A stone that is often grounding, comforting and settling, resonating often with its keeper on an earthly level, Calcite makes a wonderful support towards moving through daily life. It is a stone that can settle with many beings contently, especially as it tends to work in the here and now, while keeping their feet on the ground at all times. Calcite is very stable and universal in its energy, and although it does differ in its forms, the undertones remain the same.
