These small pieces weigh on average  6-12g a measure approximately 2cm x .5cm. The two main sources is this material is India and Madagascar, these particular pieces are from Madagascar. Material from Madagascar is generally lighter in colour and translucent whereas the material from India is generally much darker and light will not pass through.

Corundum:-

The name "Corundum" is derived from the Tamil word "Kuruntam" meaning "Ruby", itself derived from the Sanskrit "Kuruvinda".

Corundum is a crystalline form of aluminium oxide (Al2O3) with traces of iron, titanium and chromium and has a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it one of the most durable commercial gemstones. Corundum comes in all colours of the rainbow but is most commonly found as opaque crystals with dull colours. Red corundum is better known as Ruby, blue corundum is better known as Sapphire, and all other colours are called fancy Sapphires. Some varieties of corundum will fluoresce under short wave and long wave UV light if there is enough Chromium in the crystal structure but little Iron, which tends to quench any emitted energy.

The extreme hardness of corundum makes it especially useful as an abrasive. Crushed corundum is processed to remove impurities and then screened to produce uniformly sized granules and powders. These are used for grinding media, polishing compounds, sand papers, grinding wheels, and other cutting applications.

A ruby is a pink to blood-red coloured gemstone, a variety of the mineral corundum - (aluminium oxide), the other variety being Sapphire. The word ruby comes from ruber, Latin for red. The color of a ruby is due to the element chromium.  Until 1800, when Ruby was recognised as variety of corundum, red Spinels and Garnets were also believed to be Ruby.

Ancient legend in Myanmar held that inserting a Ruby into your flesh would make you invulnerable. In European lore during the Middle Ages, Ruby was believed to convey good health, resolve disagreements and remove negative thoughts. It was long revered as a stone of royalty, and the Chinese Emperor Kublai Khan was said to have offered an entire city in exchange for a huge Ruby.

Ruby carries the frequency of the enlightened Base Chakra stimulating the flow of life-force energy or chi through the body. It strengthens the ability to meet one’s needs and manifest one’s desires, and is powerful in activating the kundalini.

The Base, or Root Chakra, is located at the base of the spine, and controls the energy for kinesthetic feeling and movement. It is the foundation of physical and spiritual energy for the body. When physically out of balance the symptoms will manifest themselves as lethargy, low levels of activity, low enthusiasm, and a need for constant stimulation. When its spiritual energies are out of balance, one will feel flighty, disconnected from reality, and distant. “Record Keeper”

A Record Keeper crystal is distinguished by triangle shaped markings on one or more of the crystal’s faces.

The “recorders” (as the markings on these crystals are referred to) may look like a raised area on the face, but if we run our hand over it, we often can’t feel it at all. This is why record keepers often go unnoticed, and will sometimes only reveal themselves when they come into the hands of the person they are meant for. There are other crystals that have many triangles on them, often a multitude that look like etchings. These are incredibly powerful and effective channelling or meditation tools.

When the triangle faces upward toward the point, this indicates the information the crystal will reveal is related to the past. If the triangle is pointing downward away from the point, this is called a Trigonic and is likely to access information about the future.

There have been rumours for many years that we programmed and channelled with these crystals in a previous lifetime, leaving them marked with triangles. When reborn into our current lifetime, we gravitate back to the Record Keeper crystal to pick up the information we left in our previous life. A Record Keeper is a definite tool for past life regression if ever there was one! I have had some pretty strange and wonderous experiences with them.

It is believed that a Record Keeper is one of the most sacred crystals because it holds the wisdom and knowledge of the universe. It is said that meditating with a Record Keeper whilst rubbing a finger over the pyramid, or tracing the shape of it continuously, will release information.
