These lovely leaf motif carvings are made from Asterite. They have been beautifully shaped with a great aspect and have been pre-drilled for you to create your own individual piece of jewellery. On average the pieces weigh 12g and measure 4.5cm x 2cm.

This wonderful material is sourced from the highly mineralised area of Balochistan, South Western Pakistan. This area shares international borders with Iran and Afghanistan and is extremely well known for being the richest mineral province of Pakistan. This product is known locally as Snakeskin Jasper or Asterite amongst other names and is closely related to Serpentine.

The name Serpentine comes from the Latin word 'Serpentinus' meaning serpent rock and from the Greek word 'Serpens', meaning snake. This was because of the way that many pieces of this stone have a similarity to the appearance of snakeskin. The Serpentine color will commonly be known for its variety of greens. However, serpentine can be found in colours such as white, yellow, black, brown, gray, and purple.

Serpentine is a general name given to a family of 16 distinct hydrous silicate minerals. It is easy to carve and polish, in fact it was used to make one of the oldest human figurines over 30,000 years ago! Serpentine is a wonderful stone for meditation and chakra healing. The oldest known Serpentine carving, the Venus of Galgenberg, was carved c.30,000 BCE. It was found in 1988 near Stratzing, Austria. The Venus of Galgenberg is thousands of years older than the Venus of Willendorf, the most famous female figurine of the prehistoric world, which was also found in Austria. The purpose of these figurines remains unknown but is a source of much conjecture.

Asterite is a gemstone that channels forces of nature and therefore makes the perfect stone to work with when you want to strengthen your control and connection with any of the Elements. The stone is associated with the Root and Heart Chakras, creating the perfect bridge between lust and love.

Asterite resonates strongly with the Astral Realm and is accompanied by primal forces of energy that help you identify with both the organic and celestial senses inside yourself. Asterite will open your mind, body, and spirit in unison, allowing better access to the divine. The stone is a conduit for receiving psychic messages and visions from the Universe and can reanimate memories and dreams from past lives.

If you want a good gemstone that will ground you and encourage you to become who you are meant to be in terms of your divinity and purity, then Asterite is a stone that will open your psychic mind and heart together.

Over thousands of years, different cultures, from the ancient Celts back to antiquity, have explored the meaning of leaves and incorporated them into their jewelry. For example, in ancient Egypt, leaf motifs were often used in jewelry to symbolize fertility and vitality. For the Celts, leaves were a symbol of connection with nature and spiritual renewal. In Buddhism, leaves are often associated with the concept of unfolding the mind and spiritual growth.

These examples show that the symbolic power of leaves has existed for a long time and has been interpreted in different ways by different cultures. By using leaf motifs in jewelry, people were able to express their connection with nature and convey spiritual meaning.
