904g Myanmar Petrified/Opalised Wood Freeform

This piece weighs 904g, measures 16cm x 6cm x 6cm and has slight damage as seen in the last two photos. Due to slight chip this piece has been reduced from $149.99.

I fell in love with this material the first time I saw it in Mae Sai, (the major border crossing town between Thailand and Myanmar). The hand shaping and polishing is done by skilled artisans in nearby Myanmar villages and differs dramatically from most western style Lapidary treatment of Petrified Wood. Because of the often very old machinery used to work this material it may contain imperfections, but to me this features adds to the rustic charm. Each piece is incredibly unique and not even the workers know how a piece will evolve throughput the shaping and polishing process.

The Wood itself is simply stunning and is much more reminiscent of Opalised Wood, but much heavier. I believe this is due to the area being the richest source of top quality Jadeite in the world. Thinner piece have a mesmerising translucency adding another layer of appeal to this product, I simply cannot get enough, I cannot help but smile every time I hold a piece. Wonderful meditation stone !

Petrified Wood is a stone to assist with grounding and stabilising one’s emotions. Myanmar Petrified Wood is very highly prized due to it’s unique composition and the unusual polishing and shaping style utilised, especially in the specimen pieces.

Petrified sal trees and their pieces also known as fossilized shorearobusta are mainly mined in Natogyi of Upper Myanmar. Sal Petrified Wood has five main colours - green, red, blue, white and transparent yellow. Green fossilized sal trees are very rare and most highly prized especially in China. Transparent yellow and white specimens are favoured in the UAE, Europe and India.

Also excellent for meditation, as the ancient energies contained within provide a relaxing, soothing and accepting environment.
