These specimens are Fluorite and Valentinite over Stibnite from a small recent discovery at the Xiefang Mine in China. The Fluorite is Botryoidal, pale lavender or clear in colour with a strong violet UV reaction.

This piece weighs 8g and measures 4cm x 1cm x 1cm.

The Xiefang Mine in Ruijin County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi, China, is a renowned locality known for producing exceptional mineral specimens, particularly Baryte and Fluorite - specimens of which are also available in my store. Whilst Valentinite is not uncommon to find in association with Stibnite it does provide a striking yellow/orange UV reaction. The Botryoidal Fluorite on these specimens show a strong Purple UV reaction which combined with the yellow/orange UV reaction of the Fluorite make for spectacular specimens.

Stibnite:-

Stibnite is a sulphide mineral and is the principal ore of Antimony. From the Greek, stimmi or stibi, "antimony," thence to the Latin, stibium. Also from the Greek anthemon, "flower" in allusion to the form of crystal druses. Lead-grey to silvery grey in colour, it often develops a black, iridescent tarnish on exposure to light. It normally occurs as elongated, prismatic crystals that may be bent or twisted. These crystals are often marked by striations parallel to the prism faces. Stibnite typically forms coarse, irregular masses or radiating sprays of needlelike crystals, but it can also be granular or massive.

A widespread mineral, in a large range of quality, Stibnite occurs in hydrothermal veins, hot-spring deposits and replacement deposits that form at low temperatures (up to 400°F/200°C). It is often associated with Galena Cinnabar, Realgar, Orpiment, Pyrite and Quartz. It is found in massive aggregates in Granite and Gneiss rocks.

Stibnite is used to manufacture matches, fireworks, and percussion caps for firearms. Other uses in the pyrotechnic industries include specifically the glitter & fountain mixtures. The Needle-like crystals or "Chinese Needle", are used in glitter compositions & white pyrotechnic stars. The "Dark Pyro" version is used in flash powders to increase their sharpness & sensitivity. It is also a component of modern day safety matches.

A paste of Stibnite powder in fat & other materials, was used as far back as 3100 BC since protodynastic ancient Egypt as a medication & a cosmetic. This paste was known as Kohl & has been used my many cultures predominantly as eye makeup.

A crystal of change, growth, attraction & transformation. The most important lesson Stibnite imparts is how to conquer fear. Stibnite can effect profound change on all levels. This energy is grounding, expansive & cleansing. Stibnite provides excellent protection with stability & helps one to blend or be the chameleon in all worlds.

An excellent anchor for grounding high vibrational energies into the physical plane & affecting positive change with these energies. A powerful healer which shields one from energetic attachment & acts as an energy generator. Stibnite is a great ally when manifesting abundance & prosperity as it gives great strength to push through barriers, releasing blockages.

Stibnite fortifies the auric field providing both energetic & emotional protection. It opens & maintains connection with spirit which increases intuitive abilities. Helps to create & maintain personal boundaries, instilling great self-respect.

Fluorite:-

Fluorite, (also called fluorspar) is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF2. It belongs to the Halide minerals. It crystallizes in isometric cubic habit, although octahedral and more complex isometric forms are not uncommon. Rainbow Fluorite exhibits a combination of colours inherent in Fluorite crystals, such as purple, blue, green, clear and yellow and, as such, it blends all of the properties of each colour.

Fluorite often occurs with other common minerals, including quartz and calcite which makes it an excellent healing tool for its overall cleansing and purifying effects. It typically contains green and purple colours, giving it an incredible synergistic energy that heals and rejuvenates the aura. The green cleanses and purifies the heart chakras by aligning your mind with the true desires of the heart. The perfect prescription for a case of existential burnout, the purple colours in the Fluorite crystal stone helps you discover your divine purpose in life. It opens and stimulates the third eye chakra, clearing the way for spiritual expansion.

Keep the creative juices flowing by meditating with the Fluorite crystal, a stone that gives order to chaos. Sit quietly with Fluorite and call on its gentle healing powers to help you coordinate your physical and mental abilities. As you inhale, imagine its white light of healing vibrations infusing your spirit with its energizing waves of clarity and rejuvenation. When you meditate with Fluorite, it reminds you to step away from the canvas to see the bigger picture. As you exhale, imagine your feelings of confusion and frustration evolving into a sense of peace that comes from its green shades, a colour that evokes the spirit of deep tropical seas.

Fluorite cleanses and stabilises the aura, It absorbs and neutralises negative energy and stress.  An excellent learning aid, Fluorite increases our powers of concentration, self-confidence and helps us in decision-making.  It encourages positivity, balances the energies, and improves balance and coordination, both physically and mentally.

Valentinite:-

Named after Basilius Valentinus (Anglicized: Basil Valentine) (1394? Mainz, Germany - 1450 Germany?), who wrote about the properties of antimony. Valentinus may have been a real 15th-century chemist, but some historians argue that it was a pseudonym used by one or more 16th-century German authors.

Whoever he was, Basil Valentine had considerable knowledge of chemistry. He demonstrated that ammonia could be obtained by the action of alkali on salammoniac (ammonium chloride), described the production of hydrochloric acid by acidifying brine of common salt (sodium chloride), and created ethyl chloride and oil of vitriol (sulphuric acid), among other achievements.

Valentinite typically occurs in hydrothermal deposits, often associated with Stibnite and is of interest both for its chemical properties and its historical usage in alchemy and metallurgy.
