Morganite belongs to the beryl mineral family, which also includes the more well-known beryls emerald and aquamarine. Trace amounts of Manganese are the cause of colour in most morganite. Available also as a gemstone in a range of hues that include pink, peach, purple, rose and salmon, morganite was first discovered along the coast of Madagascar in 1911. Morganite gets its name from famed American banker J.P. Morgan, who had a lifelong love of gemstones and made significant gemstone gifts to museums around the world.

The Morganite in these beads is opaque Morganite of various colours and obviously not gem quality, but are genuine Morganite all the same.
