This beautiful natural material is from Brazil and I s known as Trollite, or Trolite, Trialite. Trolleite is an extremely rare aluminum phosphate mineral that crystallizes in the form of masses and small prismatic crystals. It is commonly found as an inclusion in Quartz, alongside similar minerals such as Scorzalite and Lazulite. 

The pieces I have selected have various veins running through most of the pieces giving them a rustic tone. This piece weighs 62g and measures 5.5cm x 3.5cm x 2cm.

The mineral was originally found in Sweden in 1868, and was named after the famed chemist and attorney general, Hans Gabriel Trolle-Wachtmeister. Originally, it was thought that Trolleite was only found in its type locality (initial place of discovery), but throughout the 20th century, more and more deposits began to be unearthed. 

One of the largest and most important veins of Trolleite in the mineral community comes from the Minas Gerais region in Brazil. From this locality, large deep blue inclusions of Trolleite can be found in huge Quartz masses. This had led Trolleite to become more common amongst the mineral community, simply due to its ability to be cut, shaped, polished, and worn as jewelry.

Similar to how granite is made of multiple minerals (quartz, feldspar, and mica), trollite is made of a constellation of minerals. This unique combination is what makes it special. Trollite is a mix of lepidolite, which is a lithium-rich type of mica, plus lazulite and blue tourmaline. The array of all these minerals’ colors working together in trollite creates the sort of flame or wave of deep blue to sky blue and white. No two designs are alike.

Also known as an ascension stone, Trolleite is said to be helpful in opening the third eye chakra and crown chakra. This allows for increased spiritual awareness and connection with the higher self. Trolleite is also said to be beneficial in promoting psychic abilities and enhancing intuition.

Trolleite possesses an exceptionally calm energy.
