Blue Lepidolite is a rare sky blue form of this Lithium based mineral. Originally thought to have been discovered sometime after 1913, however is not noted in literature until the site was visited by geologist E.S. Simpson, several times across 1922-23.

This Blue Lepidolite is from the Carlaminda Blue Quarry in Western Australia in the Yalgoo which is approximately 280 miles north of Perth. The western section of this pegmatite is on Gabyon Station, and the eastern section is on Carlaminda Station. About 30 kilometres north north-west of Yalgoo. It is known for fine examples of blue lepidolite. Most lepidolite is purple, however in this case the coloration is caused by a combination of Rubidium, Caesium and Lithium.

Lepidolite was first discovered in 1861 by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff. Originally called "lilalite" because of its lavender colour, it was later named "lepidolite" from the Greek "lepidos"--which means "scale"--because of its scaly appearance caused by flakes of lithium.

Lepidolite is a potassium lithium aluminium silicate hydroxide fluoride that belongs to the mica group of minerals. Lepidolite, like other micas, has a layered structure of lithium aluminium silicate sheets weakly bonded together by layers of potassium ions. The crystal habit includes tabular to prismatic crystals with a prominent pinacoid termination. Lepidolite's four prism faces and two pinacoid faces form pseudo-hexagonal crystal "books". The sides of the crystal often tend to tapper. Also as micaceous, lamellar or granular rock forming masses.

Lepidolite occurs a lilac, violet, pale pink or white and rarely grey or yellow crystals that have a vitreous to pearly lustre. \n\nLepidolite is mined as a source of the element lithium along with other rare earth elements such as cesium and rubidium. Lepidolite is an important source of lithium, which is the lightest metal in the world. It is used in rechargeable batteries, mobile phones, toasters, microwave ovens, air purifiers, aircraft parts and is well-known as a mood-stabilising drug.

Scale back fiery emotions, and let Lepidolite add some balance back into your mind and spirit. When intense feelings flash through you, it can be hard to find a place of calm. With lepidolite meditation, instead of chasing after the calm, the calm finds you, connecting with all of your chakras, aligning them and dissolving energy blocks.

For those who are quick to react, carrying a lepidolite stone in your pocket can help you to take a moment to breathe and think before doing anything. That’s what makes lepidolite an ideal crystal for addicts. It gives you a greater sense of awareness. Where once you might have been inclined to do something, and then worry about the consequences later, the gentle support offered by lepidolite nudges you instead to first consider what your best options are.

The lithium within the chemistry of lepidolite is ultra stabilising. Whether it’s addiction, stress, obsessive thoughts or another type of negative pattern you often fall into, the lithium within lepidolite will stabilise your emotional state. In this place of active calm, you can be aware, but not reactive.  This will give you a moment to make a better decision, and avoid the pitfalls of your past. With a tranquil and harmonious essence, lepidolite aids you in forming a new approach to life with patterns of positivity.

Lepidolite properties are calming and soothing, which makes it the perfect stone to incorporate in your nighttime ritual.  Its energy is reminiscent of a lullaby. Like a nurturing hug, it brings you to a state of peace and calm so you can drift off into a sound sleep. The Lepidolite stones meaning also helps you to remember and process your dreams.
