Rutilated quartz is a variety of quartz which despite not being as ‘pure’ as more well-known quartz varieties, such as amethyst, are valued for their ‘inclusions’. The name ‘rutilated’ is Latin in origin, from the word ‘rutilus’ meaning ‘glowing red’.
