This piece is hollow and weighs 18g, measures 6cm x 2.5cm and still retains the Calcite core intact.

This amazing material is from an undisclosed mine in the Quanzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China and was discovered in very small quantities approximately 1 year ago. Details are very cloudy and little to no information is available as to how or when it was actually formed.

China is world famous for its Fluorite and Calcite deposits and the amazing diversity and combinations that are now being released onto the mineral specimen collectors market.  Previously this was an untapped market and the big mining companies were not interested and just crushed everything.

Another mineral that China, especially this area of South Western China is known for is Graphite. This particular material appears to be is a combination of Graphite over Clear Calcite followed by another generation of Brown/Yellow stepped Calcite. For these complete tubes to exist they must have been suspended, in air, water or a softer material whilst they were formed as they are complete. Some of the pieces are hollow with traces of decomposed Graphite inside, whilst others are fully intact with UV reactive clear Calcite cores. Other pieces are in various stages of Graphite decomposition. In all cases the outer Calcite layer appears solid and stable and not UV reactive.

These truly are one off collector pieces as even many Chinese mineral wholesalers are unaware of them or unable to procure any for themselves.

Calcite:-

Calcite is clear, whitish, or pale grey, but can take on different shades of gray, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, or even black. This is due to microscopic quantities of other minerals or metals contained within the crystal matrix which makes the energy shift and it takes on unique characteristics.

Calcite is a family of calcium carbonates that occurs in a wide range of colors and formations. Most commonly it occurs in opaque masses but it can occur in a wide array of crystalline habits. Calcite is a soft mineral, with a Mohs hardness of 3. Because of its relative softness it is often carved or polished. Rough pieces are usually given an acid bath which softens the rough edges and give the stones a silky sheen.

Calcite has an amazing energy that refreshes and revitalizes, yet is still gentle. They help to remove blockages and break up old patterns. The wide range of colors ensures there is a calcite for every chakra. These strong yet gentle healers are easy to work with no matter your age, and even vibrate well with our feathered and furry friends. Calcite is a great all round healer and can be found in a wide array of colors. Energize your body’s natural electrical system using this crystal in your hands, at your feet or chakra point. You may use spheres, eggs and wands for massage. Placing your feet on a large piece will energize the whole body out of sight. Calcite comes in many colors, forms and locations. It is a crystal of fantastic variety and each one has its own benefits. Due to its electrical nature, Calcite makes for a potent elixir. Calcite is a crystal to help one get out of ruts, or break through blockages on just about any level. It is also a crystal for ascension.

Calcite is a stone of promise. It works hard to help and support its keeper in many ways. A stone that is often grounding, comforting and settling, resonating often with its keeper on an earthly level, Calcite makes a wonderful support towards moving through daily life. It is a stone that can settle with many beings contently, especially as it tends to work in the here and now, while keeping they're feet on the ground at all times. Calcite is very stable and universal in its energy, and although it does differ in its forms, the undertones remain the same.

Graphite:-

Graphite is a naturally occurring form of crystalline carbon. It is a native element mineral found in metamorphic and igneous rocks. Graphite is a mineral of extremes, it is extremely soft, cleaves with very light pressure, and has a very low specific gravity. In contrast, it is extremely resistant to heat and nearly inert in contact with almost any other material. These extreme properties give it a wide range of uses in metallurgy and manufacturing.

Graphite is a mineral that forms when carbon is subjected to heat and pressure in Earth's crust and in the upper mantle. Pressures in the range of 75,000 pounds per square inch and temperatures in the range of 750 degrees Celsius are needed to produce graphite. These correspond to the granulite metamorphic facies.

Carbon is one of the most basic building blocks of life and is widely spread in nature. Making up such a large proportion of our bodies, carbon tunes into and distils the essence of who we are, helping us to feel more “ourselves”, and also recognise our deep connection with this planet and the natural life on it.
Graphite homogenises the disparate energies within the physical body, balancing the chakras and encouraging energetic flow. It aids flexibility, softens our rough edges, and smooths the way through difficult periods in our lives. Because of its strong electrical conductivity, some practitioners use it to work with the body’s electrical impulses and electrical field.

Graphite sometimes occurs as a coating or intergrowth on other minerals, such as prehnite and garnet. In addition to the qualities of that mineral, graphite adds another dimension of softness, balance, and flow. For example, a grounding crystal like almandine garnet will still be grounding, but will no longer be entirely focussed on the Root Chakra. Graphite’s qualities balance the chakra system and encourage flow throughout the entire body, and its softening and smoothing qualities can also make a crystal that might otherwise be overpowering easier to work with.
