China is well known throughout the world for many quality Fluorite deposits. These 6 wonderful specimens are examples of a textbook, classic combination from the world-famous Yaogangxian Mine in China.

The Yaogangxian Mine, Yaogangxian W-Sn Ore Field, Yizhang Co, Chenzhou, Hunan, China. Discovered in 1914, the mine has a history of production and is a major contributor to China's tungsten output. Also known for producing spectacular, gemmy, and highly sought-after specimens of Fluorite, Wolframite, (a Tungsten Ore), Sheelite and other minerals. Fluorites from Yaogangxian are known for their clarity, colour variety (blue, purple, green), and sharp cubic crystals.

Contained in these specimens are Cubic Phantom Fluorite, Bladed Siderite, Calcite and Sphaerosiderite. Several of these pieces are real collector specimens.

Phantom Fluorite:- may also be referred to as colour zoning, which track the growth stages of the fluorite as the chemistry of the hydrothermal fluids changed over millions of years.

Sphaerosiderite:- As the iron-rich hydrothermal fluids cooled, the Siderite crystals didn't have room to grow individually, so they needle-sprayed outward in 360 degrees to form those small, golden-bronze buttons or balls.

Fluorite:-

Fluorite, (also called fluorspar) is the mineral form of calcium fluoride, CaF2. It belongs to the Halide minerals. It crystallizes in isometric cubic habit, although octahedral and more complex isometric forms are not uncommon.
