This Palmstone weighs 152g and measures 7cm x 5cm x 2cm.

This particular group of Palmstones have no blue colour tone at all although they are from the same location as the famous “Caribbean Blue Calcite”. Therefore I have avoided using this term to describe them, although the energy and feel of the material is virtually identical and to me interesting and different to the standard.

Measuring 3 on the Mohs scale, this mineral is very soft and fragile. Great care should be taken not to damage the crystal surface by handling the stone gently and keeping it away from other stones. To clean the delicate crystal, simply use water and dry it afterwards with a soft cloth.

Calcite:-

While its name comes from the German word calcit (meaning limestone) and only came into use relatively recently, in the ancient world, Calcite was grouped together with gypsum and called “alabaster” for its fair, milky colour. During the Second World War, it was used for gun sights, due to its ready availability.

Calcite is clear, whitish, or pale grey, but can take on different shades of grey, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, or even black. This is due to microscopic quantities of other minerals or metals contained within the crystal matrix which makes the energy shift and it takes on unique characteristics.

Calcite has an amazing energy that refreshes and revitalizes, yet is still gentle. They help to remove blockages and break up old patterns. The wide range of colours ensures there is a calcite for every chakra. These strong yet gentle healers are easy to work with no matter your age, and even vibrate well with our feathered and furry friends. Calcite is a great all round healer and can be found in a wide array of colours. Energize your body’s natural electrical system using this crystal in your hands, at your feet or chakra point. You may use spheres, eggs and wands for massage. Placing your feet on a large piece will energize the whole body out of sight. Calcite comes in many colours, forms and locations. It is a crystal of fantastic variety and each one has its own benefits. Due to its electrical nature, Calcite makes for a potent elixir. Calcite is a crystal to help one get out of ruts, or break through blockages on just about any level. It is also a crystal for ascension.

All Calcites are said to amplify and cleanse energies, while Brown Aragonite (which is included in Caribbean Calcite) is great for grounding and stress relief. This blue stone is most associated with the Third Eye Chakra and the Crown Chakra.

Calcite in general is a Seeker Builder Crystal. Seeker Builder crystals are used to focus your efforts to achieve a highly desirable goal. Finding your true love, getting your perfect home, or having a financially secure retirement are all dreams that take a great deal of focus and energy to accomplish. Calcite is a perfect aid for such efforts.

Calcite is a wonderful meditation stone used when you need to restore balance your life, when it is out of balance from an excess of Yang energy. The world can be a harsh, hard, loud, and forceful place. Calcite is a repose. For many, just holding one for a few minutes brings great relief.

Calcite activates one’s mind which helps to channel their own unique psychic abilities aiding in elevating consciousness.  Aiding in developing inner vision and clairvoyance, it can help one be more sensitive to the thoughts of others while enhancing telepathy and communication.

Calcium carbonate forms as both Aragonite and Calcite, and these two minerals only differ in their crystallisation. Calcite is the stable form, whereas aragonite is metastable: Over time, or when heated, it can ultimately transform into calcite. Aragonite was named by Abrahan Gottlieb Werner after Molina de Aragón, Spain, the locality where this mineral was first described.

Calcite, the more common mineral, forms in trigonal crystals, whereas Aragonite forms orthorhombic crystals. Calcium carbonate usually crystallizes as calcite, but surprisingly, it forms aragonite in seawater. While scientists have known that different concentrations of magnesium in the surrounding water affect the fate of calcium carbonate, they have had no explanation for this. The true identity of microcrystalline forms of Aragonite or Calcite may also not be known without complex testing, and this can also cause a confusion between these species.

A particularly interesting formation of Aragonite is as a deposition product of hot, mineral-rich springs. The water releases calcium upon emerging from the spring, and forms growing mounds and thick crusts around the springs. When these are banded they may be carved and given trade names such as "Onyx Marble", and "California Onyx".

Aragonite is the main component of many organic substances, such as pearl and coral. The iridescent surface of pearl and mother of pearl is actually a layer of Aragonite secreted by molluscs and related invertebrates. Some forms of Aragonite, especially the Flos Ferri variety, are brittle and very fragile, and may easily break when touched.

White or clear Aragonite crystals help you to remain calm during times of overwhelm and anxiety. This stone can help someone struggling with patience, in particular if they are experiencing overstimulation or oversensitivity.

White Aragonite is one of the few stones that connect the Crown Chakra to the Root Chakra, giving it the unique property of being able to keep you grounded spiritually. It is important to remain grounded when you are engaging in any type of spiritual work, but it is especially while working on communicating with the Spirit Realm.

It may also help you feel more grounded in your surroundings and bring peace into your life. It is believed that the stone helps connect us to our spiritual selves while bringing balance into our lives here on earth. The healing properties of aragonite stones work because this powerful crystal resonates with both the Earth’s energy and the energy of our thoughts.

When these two energies merge, they create a third form of energy that has the power to change one’s life for the better. Aragonite can help you to stay connected to your spiritual self and bring about positive changes in your life through balance and harmony.

Brown Aragonite acts as a stabilising stone and assists those who need to release issues from the past and attachments in the present.  It can be used for grounding and centring before meditation, allowing for better communication and connection to the higher planes, and can also help one to ground spiritually into the lower chakras raising the overall vibration of the body.  Aragonite provides insight into problems, and increases self-worth and self-confidence.  Diminishing stress and anger, Aragonite brings patience to situations just as it is needed the most.
