That's how closely they are genetically related! Green moss agate is a semitransparent agate with green mossy inclusions inside. Green tree agate is an opaque white jasper with green mossy inclusions inside - however they are only visible where they are exposed at the surface.

Agate is the name given to numerous varieties of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Dendritic Agate, sometimes called Tree Agate, is not banded, and therefore not strictly an Agate in scientific terms but is included in the Agate family.

This particular material has elements of both formations in one piece - a Transitional or Hybrid Stone. Although both stones have similar properties in my opinion both are amplified when they are found in one piece.

Moss Agates are quartz-based gemstones similar to chalcedony. Similar to the Tree Agate, these stones are not banded and are not considered true agates based on the scientific definition. Moss Agates are commonly confused with Tree Agates as they are both dendritic gemstones with the main difference between the two being their hardness and the mineral contents contained within the dendritic formations.

The dendritic formations within the stone resemble that of moss and lichen growths. The dendrite formations typically consist of iron and manganese, occasionally revealing red spots. The stone itself is generally clear to milky white, with some stones having green and blue hues as well. Fans of gardening often use Moss Agates by mixing them in the soil to promote growth and plant health.

Dendritic Agate is known as the Stone of Plentitude. It brings abundance and fullness to all areas of life, from business to agricultural endeavours.

It was associated with the ancient Greek dryads, woodland and tree spirits, and was buried in the fields at the time of sowing to insure a good harvest.

Historically, Agate has been discovered with the artefacts of Neolithic people, and was used as healing amulets and ornamentation dating back to Babylon. Its medicinal uses continued through the ancient Greek and Egyptian civilizations, and spread throughout Africa and the Middle East into Russia. Agate sparked a world renowned stonecutting and polishing industry in Germany that flourished from the 15th to the 19th century, and exists today.

Agate has a lower intensity and vibrates to a slower frequency than other stones, but is highly regarded as a stabilising and strengthening influence.

Dendritic Agate encourages perseverance and patience, and promotes a peaceful inner and outer environment. It has a strong connection to the plant kingdom and deepens our own connection to the Earth and our place in the Universe.

Dendritic Agate is ideal for examination of self, and the self-imposed limitations and patterns that make up one's life experiences. It is a helpful talisman for anyone involved in therapy, meditation, rebirthing, a twelve-step programme, or any path of serious work that requires a day-to-day behavioural change necessary to achieve desired results.

Agate promotes inner stability, composure, and maturity. Its warm, protective properties encourage security and self-confidence. It is a great crystal to use during pregnancy.

Agate also helps new mothers avoid the "baby blues" sometimes experienced after giving birth, and an Agate jewel worn between the breasts encourages lactation.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0870/2453/3781/files/adcb7374-il_fullxfull.2342954348_coie.jpg?v=1765592628
